A young couple in Williamsburg contacted me to transform a 3-story abandoned nightclub into a brewery/ bar/ retail complex. Originally constructed as a warehouse, this nightclub retained many original industrial & rustic charm and details that have preceded in Williamsburg.

The design intent for this brewery is to create a home-like, warm, and welcoming space like the name “Hudson Home Brewery”, yet to preserve the historical and cultural styles that have preceded this neighborhood and the existing building. To achieve this goal, I proposed to keep a few existing rustic architectural elements, such as metal trusses and brick walls, and to introduce warm materials & accessories, such as wood flooring & furniture, leather, green tiles, and framed portraits.

This complimentary mix of rustic vs. contemporary and cold vs. warm helped bring out the best in each other and created exciting contrast & harmonization. This space was transformed into a new hang-out spot where eclectic cultures and different races mingle and enjoy.
