The Backyard Smoke House is a new barbeque restaurant built in the parking lot complex, Queens. The only entrance to this restaurant was through the long, dark parking entry tunnel, and our client wanted to make it more exciting for customers walking through and to make it more eye-catching to attract more clients.
We couldn't demolish nor build any new massings inside of this tunnel because of the building code, so we decided to upgrade the look of this tunnel only with the help of paint colors and greenery.
To draw attention to the other side of the tunnel, we created illusions of dynamic movement, transformation by applying a few primary colors in simple diagonal shapes. We also incorporated greenery alongside of this tunnel so that this greenery could visually & physically connect the street with the other side of the tunnel, and provide more pleasant experience for customers walking through.
