Our client wanted to open a Modern Handroll and sake place reminiscent of the U-shaped diners and izakaya bars, famous in Tokyo.

We designed the interior in industrial-modern style, but also incorporated traditionial Japanese architectural elements. We created a simple U shaped bar constructed with concrete; a team of chefs will operate from behind this counter with a sculptural white oak ceiling looming overhead. In this sculptural wood ceiling, inset lighting will illuminate the counter and create a cozy, warm atmosphere. Both wall and floor will be finished with polished concrete that gives off rustic, industrial charm.
