ARCHITECTURE  FIRM:

While I was working for KPF, as a design architect, I worked on the design proposal for this museum's interior renovation and the new metal facade cladding.

The Petersen Automotive Museum is located on Wilshire Boulevard along Museum Row in the Los Angeles Miracle Mile neighborhood.  It is one of the world’s largest automotive museums and has about 150 vehicles displayed in its main galleries.
The existing concrete building, originally designed by Welton Becket in 1994, was outdated and lost its tourist appeal as a landmark in that area. To attract more tourists, the client decided to renovate the interior space and clad the exterior facade with sculptural elements.

To create a visually stunning sculptural facade that is reminiscent of the speed and turbulence generated by automobile movement, we created red metal ribbons wrapped around the existing concrete box. We also created an open, functional layout, circulation, and design in the lobby and exhibition area so that visitors can have a better experience.
